Zandra Rhodes

Famous for her pink hair as much as her ethereal designs, Zandra Rhodes started selling her hand painted textiles in 1967 in the Fulham Clothing Shop in London. Quickly becoming a household name, Rhodes opened her own store in 1970 where she sold her signature caftans, organza jackets, house dresses and silk scarves, all designed and printed herself. Heavily featured in fashion magazines, Zandra's pieces were in high demand in Europe and the US, allowing her to produce a ready-to-wear line that was sold in major department stores as well as a couture collection. Her iconic delicate, pastel-hued silk dresses are decorated with lively patterns, jagged and tasseled borders, applique flowers, beads and pearls. A Zandra Rhodes wedding dress was a must-have among the fashion elite in the 1970s and 80s.
