Purple ombre ensemble

$650.00

Interesting late 1960's jacket and pant ensemble from the legendary London Boutique Annacat. The beautiful midnight blue to purple ombre is featured throughout the length of the jacket, the bell sleeves and the trousers. The inside silk lining of the jacket also features a purple to tan ombre. The jacket fastens with five hooks and eyes under the exaggerated rounded collar and features an optional tie. Seam under the bust gives this jacket the essence of an empire silhouette. Trousers have front pleats and a front zipper at the rise. Pieces can easily be worn together or separately. In excellent condition.

Annacat

Annacat was the Biba of The Brompton Road, being formed in 1965 by friends Jane Lyle and Maggie Keswick. Although little is known about the origins of the boutique, it is easy to show the sense of fun and youthful enthusiasm which encapsulates the Boutique Movement through the designs of Annacat. They were highly favoured by British Vogue and the two female designers were very ‘in’ with the London scene at the time, explaining their favoured status. There is a real sense of fun and decadence about their pieces, regularly trimmed in ostrich feathers, printed in feminine, swirling psychedelics and with historically influenced, sexy shapes.
