Alphée Paris Marabou Modernist Hat

$325.00
| /
1960's hat by Parisian design house Alphée. Another unique example of hats by the same designer is held in the permanent collection of the Met Costume Institute. Cutting edge for its time, this shape reflects the more Space Age sensibility to fashion beginning in the 60's by Courrèges. Everyone wanted to find a hat that was modern and at the same time made a statement. Taste was changing and the youth market was surging. This was a new concept and quickly reached the target audience, it also represented the last era of wearing hats for fashion rather than utilitarian warmth as we tend to do today. Toffee color marabou feathers with beige grosgrain ribbons. Despite its delicate nature this aviator helmet shaped bird is ready to fly! In very good vintage condition, lined and very lightweight. Fits a small to medium head.
