Beige and Purple Raw Shantung Bagh Printed Dress and Jacket

$900.00

Inspired by the Thai silk from the far east, this late 1970s Lanvin dress and jacket ensemble is made from a beautiful beige shantung silk and is printed in the Bagh style throughout in violet and green floral pattern. The dress has short sleeves with a high neckline that has a faux button placket halfway down the front of the bust. The bodice is printed with a small floral Bagh print while the long skirt that falls from the natural waist is printed in an oversized Bagh floral print. Zips up the back with darts at the bust. The matching jacket, a great piece to wear separately as well, is made if the same Shantung silk fabric with a more condensed small Bagh floral print. The 70s style pointed collar updates this jacket and it is meant to be worn open with no buttons or zips. Front patch pockets with seams down the front. In excellent condition, fits like a US 4.

Lanvin

Opened in 1909 by Jeanne Lanvin, the House of Lanvin was one of the most influential couturiers of the 1920s and 1930s. Lanvin's skillful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a her trademark. When Jeanne died in 1946 several skilled designers stepped into her shoes over the years including Antonio Castillo, Claude Montana and today's Alber Elbaz.
