Emmanuelle Khanh

Emmanuelle Khanh started her career in fashion as a model at both Givenchy and Balenciaga. In 1962 she joined model Christiane Baily to form the label Emma Christie. She was often called the French Mary Quant and she was known for her modern and youthful designs. In the 1960's she freelanced for companies such as Carlette in the USA, Cacharel, Missoni, Krizia, and others in Europe. She launched the Emmanuelle Khanh in 1971 and she was known for her large rimmed glasses.

Emmanuelle Khanh black pleated wool long sleeve gown dating from the 1980's. Eye is drawn to the stunning hand sewn paisley pattern embroidery and beading. Embroidery and beading has muted tones of grey and beige, with pops of bright blue, yellow and green. Fastens at nape of neck with small key hole cut out at upper back. Exaggerated shoulder pads, side pockets. Excellent vintage condition.

Amazing 1970s Emmanuelle Khanh blue striped sunglasses with blue lenses. This shape and style was worn and made famous by Khanh herself and she was often photographed in a variation of these. Signed on the left interior arm. The lenses are currently prescription. In excellent condition.
