John Harberger, also known as John P. John, or Mr. John was one of the foremost milliners of the 20th century. He began by working for his mother, Mme. Laurel, in 1926. In 1929 he partnered with milliner Frederic Hirst and created a hat company called John-Frederics. The team designed hats for Hollywood films, most famously for Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind.The company closed in 1948 and John P. John started Mr. John which closed in the 1970s. Though mostly known for hats, Mr. John also had a boutique where they sold woman's clothing and furs.
