Sonia Rykiel
Sonia's career began out of necessity; she couldn't find any maternity clothing in the right size so she knit herself a wardrobe and women began to ask for her designs. She sold her pieces in her husband's store in Paris and her collections consisted of comfortable, fluid pieces that looked elegant and slimmed the figure. In 1968 she opened her own boutique in Paris and was known as the Queen of Knitwear - a title well deserved as she became an internationally renown designer without ever having a haute couture branch. Suitable for leisurewear, Rykiels knits are made to be worn bu fashionable women who wish to indulge in an elegant form of idleness.
