Guy Laroche
Guy Laroche began as a milliner in Paris and New York before he apprenticed under couturier Jean Dessès. In 1957, he opened his own couture house, with the first show being staged in his own apartment and in 1960 he added a ready-to-wear boutique label. Laroche was known as a masterful cutter and tailor and his fashions are characterized by simple cuts and mostly delicate, though occasionally bold, colors. The height of his popularity was in the 1960s when he dressed many of France's high society.
