1950's Christian Dior London Black Demi Couture cocktail dress. Made in London, sold at Holt Renfrew Toronto. The dress gives the appearance of a separate top and skirt however it is indeed a 1 piece constructed with an interior zip lining and additional fastening on the back. Exaggerated oval neckline, 3/4 sleeve and a split side bodice. The interior dress (sleeveless silk lined top sewn onto the overtop and skirt, has a slightly gathered waist and two invisible side seam pockets. A rare sporty addition to this classic French designer dress. Fabric appears to be a combination of wool and some synthetic. Size label is no longer attached. Fits like a US 6-8. Lined in black silk, in excellent vintage condition. Dry cleaned. Museum quality investment piece with the bonus of wearability. Serial number on label.
