Navy Wool Blazer with Maroon Trim from 1971
Highly documented Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche blazer from the revered 1971 "Libération" collection. The collection was inspired by 1940s wartime fashion and the women of occupied Paris. Saint Laurent interpreted vintage styles for the younger generation - the wartime silhouettes of thirty years previous. This double breasted blazer is crafted from a navy blue light wool with slightly contrasting maroon trim. Oversized lapels and large patch pockets at hips. Refer to photos for documentation. The graphic lines of this piece photograph fantastically and many colour versions of this jacket were used in 1971 editorials. A different colour combination was worn by Jane Birkin. Excellent vintage condition. Made in France.
